But there are a few things you should do to make it a lot easier still to work with. 1.1 URLs 1.1.1 Permalink structure The first thing to change is your permalink structure. You’ll find the permalink settings under Settings → Permalinks. The default permalink is?p=, but we prefer to use either /post-name/ or /category/post-name/. For the first option, you change the setting to /%postname%/: To include the category, you select “Custom Structure” and change the value to /%category%/%postname%/. If you previously had?p= as your permalink WordPress will take care of all the redirects for you. This is also true if you change from /%postname%/ to /%category%/%postname%/. If you change from any other permalink structure, you might want to consult our article on and the tool that you’ll find within it. 1.1.2 WWW vs non-WWW You need to think about what you want your site to show up as, www.example.com or simply example.com. Make sure that in your general settings, under Settings → General, the version you want to show up is properly reflected. You will also want to set this correctly in. Make sure to set up your site with Google Search Console and set the preferred domain, you can find this setting under Settings → Preferred domain: Where you can set it: 1.1.3 Stop words The last thing you’ll want to do about your permalinks to increase your WordPress SEO, is remove so called stopwords. Words like “a”, “and”, “the” etc. As of version 1.1.6, our Yoast SEO plugin will automatically remove stop words from your slugs once you save a post, so you won’t get those ugly long URL’s when you do a sentence style post title. This is generally not something you want to change after posts have gone live. If people have already linked to it, try to not change the permalink anymore and if you do, make sure the post is properly redirected. In most cases WordPress should redirect the old URL to the new one but if it doesn’t you need to make the redirect manually. 1.1.4 To SSL or not to SSL In 2014, Google announced that they’d give a (admittedly minor) ranking benefit to HTTPS / SSL sites, and because of that, more and more sites have switched over to SSL. It might be a good idea for you too. If you want to move to SSL, we have an article with right here. 1.2 Optimize your titles for SEO The title, the contents of your page’s tag, is one of the single most important factors for ranking in the search results. Not only is it the literal title of the tab or browser window, it’s also the first line people see in the search results, followed by the URL (or the breadcrumb) and the snippet, usually the meta description combined with a date: On many blogs, the title for blog posts is still “Blog title » Blog Archive » Keyword rich post title” or “Blog title » Keyword rich post title”. For your WordPress blog to get the traffic it deserves, this should be the other way around, for two reasons: • Search engines put more weight on the early words, so if your keywords are near the start of the page title you are more likely to rank well. • People scanning result pages see the early words first. If your keywords are at the start of your listing your page is more likely to get clicked on. For more info on how to create enticing titles for your posts, read our article on. 1.2.1 Controlling titles with the Yoast SEO plugin You can control your SEO titles with our Yoast SEO plugin. There are two parts of the plugin that control these. First of all, as soon as you install & activate the plugin, you get an SEO section in your admin. Navigate to SEO → Titles & Metas and you’ll see a bunch of tabs for different types of pages on your site. For each post type and taxonomy you can set a so called Title Template (as well as meta description templates but we’ll get to those later). For posts on our site this looks like this: There’s a bunch of variables you can use in the titles and meta description, they’re all listed and explained in the help tab on the top right of the page. Be sure to check whether the template actually works and you’re not getting a duplicate site title for instance. If this is the case, you might need to check the “Force rewrite” checkbox on the same page or on that page to modify your template. For the other pages, we have the following settings: • Categories, Tags and other taxonomies:%%term_title%%%%sep%% Archives%%page%%%%sitename%% • Search pages: You searched for%%searchphrase%%%%sep%%%%sitename%% • 404 pages: Page not found - Error 404%%sep%%%%sitename%% • Author archives:%%name%%%%sep%% Author at%%sitename%% There are some other cool features, for instance: you can use%%cf_%% to use a custom field, this can be either a post custom field, sometimes known as post meta value, or a user meta value. In this particular case it’s the custom field “role” we use to store the role of a user within our company. The%%sep%% template code gets replaced by the separator you select on the first tab: 1.2.2 Optimizing individual posts So now that we’ve set decent templates, we can start to optimize individual posts and pages. For that we use the snippet preview added by the Yoast SEO plugin: This preview will automatically take the values you’ve already filled in in your blog post and apply them to your template, but you can also override the title completely using the title field just below it: The input will show a warning below it if your title is becoming too long. The title length is not a fixed amount of characters but rather limited to the length of the display in the search results. For titles the following things are important: • They should always contain your brand, preferably at the end, so people may recognize you in consecutive searches. • They should always contain the keyword you think is most important for the current post or page, which we’ll call the focus keyword from now on. The focus keyword should preferably be at the beginning of the title. • The rest of the title should entice people to click. 1.3 Optimize your descriptions Now that we’ve got proper titles, we should start to focus on meta descriptions. The meta description can be used by search engines to show in the snippet, it’s the black piece of text shown beneath the URL. The meta description is usually only used when it contains the keyword the searcher was searching for. Some plugins use so-called “automated descriptions”. They use the first sentence of a post to fill the meta description by default. That’s not very smart. That first sentence might be an introductory sentence which has hardly anything to do with the subject. Thus, the only well-written description is a hand written one, and if you’re thinking of auto-generating the meta description, you might as well not do anything and let the search engine control the snippet If you don’t use the meta description, the search engine will find the keyword searched for in your document, and automatically pick a string around that, which gives you a bolded word or two in the results page. Auto generating a snippet is a “shortcut”, and there are no real shortcuts in (WordPress) SEO (none that work anyway). So, use the meta description field you find in the Yoast SEO plugin to write a meta description. Make sure it entices the reader to click through and make sure that it contains the focus keyword of your post or page at least once. You’ll notice we do not mention meta keywords. We don’t use them and neither should you, for an explanation, read this article by Joost:. 1.4 Image optimization An often overlooked part of WordPress SEO is how you handle your images. By doing stuff like writing good alt tags for images and thinking of how you name the files, you can get yourself a bit of extra traffic from the different image search engines. Next to that, you’re helping out your lesser able readers who check out your site in a screen reader, to make sense of what’s otherwise hidden to them. Using the proper alt attributes for images is also something that is checked in the functionality of our Yoast SEO plugin. We have a longer article on that will give you more tips to finetune this. 1.5 XML sitemaps To tell Google and the other search engines that your site has been updated, you can use XML Sitemaps. Our Yoast SEO plugin contains an XML Sitemap module by default that you just have to enable. Go to Settings → XML Sitemaps and enable the XML sitemap (if it isn’t already on): As soon as you hit Save, it’ll give you some options but in most cases you won’t need those. It generates an XML sitemap for all your posts, pages, custom post types and all your taxonomies like categories and tags and (if applicable) other custom taxonomies. When you publish a new post or page, the XML sitemap is automatically submitted to Google & Bing allowing them to easily (and quickly) find your new content. Other than most other XML sitemap plugins, this plugin doesn’t generate a static file, which is a very intensive process, especially for large sites. This means there is no “action” on publish, which slows down the publishing of the post. Instead it generates XML sitemaps as a sort of template using WordPress rewrites, which is much faster while also allowing caching plugins to cache the output. It’s also being smart about splitting those sitemaps up into smaller bits, so Google only has to fetch one new XML “sub”-sitemap when a post is published, because the other sitemaps haven’t been changed, using the date modified options. From an SEO perspective, it’s better than most others because it also includes the images in each post, which makes your images rank (better) in Google Image Search. It also integrates tightly with the rest of our SEO plugin, meaning that a no indexed post automatically is left out of the XML sitemap, with the option to “force” it in. Lastly, it has a pretty complete API, allowing us and other developers to plugin extra sitemaps, which means we can do things like create our, and extension. These extensions respectively generate a news xml sitemap and video xml sitemap. 2 Template optimization 2.1 Breadcrumbs You’ll want to add to your single posts and pages. Breadcrumbs are the links, usually above the title post, that look like “Home > Articles > WordPress SEO”. They are good for two things: • They allow your users to easily navigate your site. • They allow search engines to determine the structure of your site more easily. These breadcrumbs should link back to the homepage, and the category the post is in. If the post is in multiple categories it should pick one. For that to work, adapt single.php and page.php in your theme, and use the breadcrumbs from our Yoast SEO plugin. You find the settings for the breadcrumbs in the SEO → Internal Links settings page. 2.2 Headings Although most themes for WordPress get this right, make sure your post title is an, and nothing else. Your blog’s name should only be an on your front page, and on single, post, and category pages, it should be no more than an. Your sidebar shouldn’t be crammed with and ‘s either etc. These are easy to edit in the post.php and page.php templates. To learn more about why proper headings are important read this article on and our article about the (from which a lot applies to non-blog WordPress sites too). 2.3 Clean up your code All that javascript and CSS you might have in your template files, move that to external javascripts and css files, and keep your templates clean, as they’re not doing your WordPress SEO any good. This makes sure your users can cache those files on first load, and search engines don’t have to download them most of the time. 2.4 Aim for speed A very important factor in how many pages a search engine will spider on your blog each day, is how speedy your blog loads. You can do three things to increase the speed of your WordPress. • Optimize the template to do as small an amount of database calls as necessary. We’ve highlighted how to do this in our post about. • Install a caching plugin. We recommend you use W3 Total Cache if you’re technically savvy or WP Super Cache if you’re not. • W3 Total Cache works even more magic when combined with a CDN like MaxCDN. Read more about stuff here. Also, be aware that underpaying for hosting, is not wise. If you actually want to succeed with your link-bait actions, and want your blog to sustain high loads, go for a good hosting package. If you want to know more be sure to read our article about. 2.5 Rethink that sidebar Do you really need to link out to all your buddies in your blogroll site wide? Or is it perhaps wiser to just do that on your front page? Google and other search engines these days heavily discount site wide links, so you’re not really doing your friends any more favor by giving them that site wide link, nor are you helping yourself: you’re allowing your visitors to get out of your site everywhere, when you actually want them to browse around a bit. The same goes for the search engines: on single post pages, these links aren’t necessarily related to the topic at hand, and thus aren’t helping you at all. Thus: get rid of them. There are probably more widgets like these that only make sense on the homepage, and others that you’d only want on sub pages. Some day you will probably be able to change this from inside WordPress, right now it forces you to either use two sidebars, one on the homepage and one on sub pages, or write specific plugins. 2.6 HTML sitemaps For some sites an HTML sitemap might be nonsense, especially when your site is really a blog, for more corporate type sites with several levels of pages an HTML Sitemap might actually be very beneficial for both users and search engines. We’ve written an article on how to create an which would be a good start to get one going for your WordPress site. 3 Advanced WordPress SEO and duplicate content Once you’ve done all the basic stuff, you’ll find that the rest of the problems amount to one simple thing: duplicate content. Loads of it in fact. Out of the box, WordPress comes with a few different types of taxonomy: • date based • category based • tag based Next to that, it seems to think you actually need to be able to click on from page to page starting at the frontpage, way back to the first post you ever did. Last but not least, each author has his own archive too, under /author//, resulting in completely duplicate content on single author blogs. In essence that means that, worst case scenario, a post is available on 5 pages outside of the single page where it should be available. We’re going to get rid of all those duplicate content pools, by still allowing them to be spidered, but not indexed, and fixing the pagination issues that come with these things. 3.1 Noindex, follow archive pages and disable some archives Using the Yoast SEO plugin, make sure to prevent indexing (or even existence) of archive pages that do not apply for your site. You do this under SEO → Titles & Metas, where you’ll find the following options on the “Archives” tab: The settings above are the settings for our site. As you can see, we’ve completely disabled the date based archives, as we don’t use those. Any date based link will redirect to our homepage because of this setting. We’ve left the author archives untouched, but we have set the subpages of those archives to be noindex, follow by default. So you’ll never land on page 2 of an archive on our site from the search engines (change this on SEO → Titles & Metas → Other tab): On smaller sites it might make sense to noindex either the category or the tag structure, but in our experience noindexing those on yoast.com does little to no change at all. There is one type of archive that is noindex, follow by default as well in the Yoast SEO plugin: the search result pages. This is a best practice from Google for which a setting is left out as you should just have that anyway. A lot has changed in how Google handles paginated archives recently when they introduced their support for rel='next' and rel='prev' links. We’ve written an article about that:, which is a bit too technical to fully list here, but suffice to say our Yoast SEO plugin takes care of all the needed changes automatically. 3.2 Disable unnecessary archives If your blog is a one author blog, or you don’t think you need author archives, use WordPress SEO to disable the author archives. Also, if you don’t think you need a date based archive: disable it as we have. Even if you’re not using these archives in your template, someone might link to them and thus break your WordPress SEO 3.3 Pagination Thirdly, you’ll want to make sure that if a bot goes to a category page, it can reach all underlying pages without any trouble. Otherwise, if you have a lot of posts in a category, a bot might have to go back 10 pages before being able to find the link to one of your awesome earlier posts There’s an easy fix, in fact, there are several plugins that deal with this. Our favorite one by far is, maintained by Scribu, one of the best WordPress developers around. If you have the like we do here on Yoast.com, you can just enable numeric navigation under Theme Settings → Content Archives. 3.4 Canonical In February 2009, the major search engines. This is another utility to help fight duplicate content. WordPress has built-in support for canonical link elements on single posts and pages, but it has some slight bugs in that. It doesn’t output canonical links on any other page. With our Yoast SEO plugin activated, you automatically get canonical link elements for every page type in WordPress. 4 A site structure for high rankings Blogs are spidered so easily due to their structure of categories, tags etc.: all articles are well linked, and usually the markup is nice and clean. However, all this comes at a price: your ranking strength is diluted. They’re diluted by one simple thing: comments. 4.1 Pages instead of posts You’ve probably noticed by now, or you’re seeing now, that this WordPress SEO post is actually not a post. Well for several reasons. First of all, this article needed to be a “daughter”-page of our WordPress page, to be in the correct place on this blog. Secondly, to rank for the term [WordPress SEO], this article has to have the right keyword density. And that’s where things go wrong. Comments destroy your carefully constructed keyword density. That’s why we decided to make our most important articles into pages. That way, you can easily update them and do a new post about what you’ve changed. 5 Conversion optimization Get those readers to subscribe! A lot of bloggers still think that because their blog is a blog, they don’t have to optimize anything. To get people to link to you, they have to read your blog. And what do you think is easier: getting someone who is already visiting your blog to visit regularly and then link to your blog, or getting someone who visits your blog for the first time to link to your blog immediately? One of the things we’ve found to be very important, and more bloggers seem to have found this, is that an RSS subscribe button is very important, as is offering a way to subscribe by e-mail. We offer a weekly e-mail subscribe options, using, and have found that people tend to click through on those the most. Another thing to be very aware of is when people might want to subscribe to your blog. If they’ve just finished reading an article of yours, and really liked it, that would be the ideal time to reach them, right? That’s why more and more people are adding lines like this to the end of their posts: “Liked this post? Subscribe to our newsletter and get loads more!” Another great time to get people to subscribe is when people have just commented on your blog for the first time, for which purpose we use our own plugin. Which leads us to the next major aspect of WordPress SEO: 6 Comment optimization Get those readers involved Comments are one of the most important aspects of blogs. As Wikipedia: The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Comments are not only nice because people tell you how special you are, or that you made a mistake, or whatever else they have to tell you. Most of all they’re nice, because they show engagement. And engagement is one of the most important factors of getting people to link to you: they show you they care, and they open the conversation, now all you have to do is respond, and you’re building a relationship! 6.1 How you get people to comment The easiest way of getting people to do anything is: ask them to do it. Write in an engaging style, and then ask your blog’s readers for an opinion, their take on the story etc. Another important things is your comment links. Is your comment link “No comments »”? Or is it “No Comments yet, your thoughts are welcome »”? Feel the difference? You can change this by opening your index.php template, search for comments_popup_link() and changing the texts within that function. 6.2 Bond with your commenters Another thing to do is thank people when they’ve commented on your weblog. Not every time, because that get’s annoying, but doing it the first time is a very good idea. Justin Shattuck thought the same, and created the Comment Relish plugin which sends an email after someone has made his first comment, unfortunately, this plugin is no longer maintained. Another option, which is maintained and is also a bit less obtrusive / spammy, is to install our plugin. This plugin allows you to redirect people who have made their first comment to a specific “thank you” page. 6.3 Keeping people in the conversation Now that people have joined the conversation on your blog, you should make sure they stay in the conversation. That’s why you should install the plugin, that allows people to subscribe to a comment thread just like they would in a forum, and sends them an e-mail on each new comment. This way, you can keep the conversation going, and maybe your readers will be giving you new angles for new posts. 7 Off site blog SEO If you’ve followed all of the above WordPress SEO advice, you’ve got a big chance of becoming successful, both as a blogger and in the search engines. Now the last step sounds easy, but isn’t. Go out there, and talk to people online. 7.1 Follow your commenters There’s been a movement on the web for a while now that’s called the ““. They want you to remove the nofollow tag off of your comments to “reward” your visitors. Now we do agree, but That get’s you a whole lot of spam once your WordPress blog turns into a well ranked blog What we do advocate though, is that you actually follow your visitors! Go to their websites, and leave a comment on one of their articles, a good, insightful comment, so they respect you even more. If you think that’s a lot of work, do realize that, on average, about 1% of your visitors will actually leave a comment. That’s a group of people you have to take care of! 7.2 Use Twitter is a cool form of micro-blogging / chatting / whatever you want to call it. Almost all the “cool” people are on there, and they read their tweets more often than they read their e-mail, if you even knew how to reach them through e-mail. To boot, if you use or, all of your posts can be announced on Twitter, which will usually get you quite a few early readers! People will feel even more happy to comment on Twitter, which might get you into an extra conversation or two. 7.3 Find related blogs, and work them If you want to rank for certain keywords, go to Google, and see which blogs rank in the top 10 for those keywords. Read those blogs, start posting insightful comments, follow up on their posts by doing a post on your own blog and link back to them: communicate! The only way to get the links you’ll need to rank is to be a part of the community. 8 Measuring results A good SEO campaign relies on not only implementing changes but also measuring the impact of those changes, seeing what works and doing more of that. Two great Analytics packages to measure results are and. Useful plugins for these analytical packages are and our. You can also measure results by tracking rankings, the problem with rank tracking though is that it’s hard to determine “real” rankings because of personalized and localized search results. Really the best outcome of being great at WordPress SEO is to get more traffic. Another great source of data is. One of the relatively simple tricks we always give people is the following: • go into Search Console; • go to “Your site on the web”, then “Search queries”. • Click on “Download this table”. • Open the CSV file you get in Excel. • Replace all the instances of “.

I can't afford the data plan for my T-Mobile G1, and in fact I use prepay, but it's possible to use nearly all of its features with just wifi. When I first got the phone prior to the Cupcake firmware update, I had to borrow a friend's SIM that had been provisioned for data to accomplish this, but it seems Cupcake has made that unnecessary. Since my SIM never has been used for a data plan, I don't have to worry about using my prepaid minutes for data transfer, but your results may vary. Here's how to activate the G1, and likely the MyTouch 3G as well, without a data plan: • Welcome Tap the android. • Tutorial Go through if needed, otherwise touch Skip. • Set up your Google account Touch Skip under Want to set up an account later? • Location consent Accept or not at your discretion. Feb 11, 2009 So this video is to prove that you don't need the G1 internet package to have the G1 working. All you need is to get someone else's g1 sim card. Am I able to cancel the data plan once I activate my G1 through my gmail account (I read online that it's impossible to active over wifi), or am I tied to the data. I'd probably just end up keeping the web with the SIM card since I'd be paying $40 monthly rather than $70 (if buying the G1 through Walmart). You can make calls, but Google apps aren't linked yet. Touch the Menu button, touch Settings, then Wireless controls. • If the Wi-Fi checkbox isn't lit, touch it to turn it on, then touch Wi-Fi settings to connect to a network. • Once you've connected, touch the Back button twice to get back to main settings. • Touch Data synchronization. • Set up your Google account Since you're on wifi, activation is no problem. • Setting up your T-Mobile G1 Touch Sign in. • Welcome to T-Mobile G1 Enter your Google email and password, touch Sign in. • The phone will communicate with the Google servers, then start synchronizing your Gmail, Calendar, and Contacts. • It is done. I've used a Palm PDA for many years, and the G1 has turned out to be a great replacement and cell phone, so I have one less gadget to carry around. And when I'm within range of wifi, there are lots of cool features to play with. With the latest announcement of Verizon’s new tiered “structured” data plans, which begin at $30 for 2GB, many people had to decide what to do. The choices were fairly straightforward, sign up before July 7th, 2011 and keep your unlimited data (until Verizon changes this – if/when), wait and get a new tiered data plan, keep your existing feature phone without data, or switch carriers (Sprint’s the last “Unlimited Data” holdout). There is in fact, one more option. It turns out that you can get a smartphone activated on Verizon’s network without paying for any kind of data plan. While these phones ARE NOT the latest and greatest, they have many of the same features that modern smartphones do, i.e. Wifi, exta applications available for download, calenders, word processing, full QWERTY keyboards, and more. The smartphones that can be activated without a data plan are phones that were released before November 14th, 2008. The XV6800 is an excellent choice as it sports WIFI and a full slider QWERTY keyboard. If you find a phone you like and decide to go this route, here’s how to avoid the expensive data plans: Step 1: Purchase a phone from the list, or one released before the specified data (above). Step 2: Call Verizon Wireless from a landline phone [(800) 922-0204 – Monday-Sunday 6am-11pm] and navigate yourself through the plethora of options, try hitting 0 to speak to a real operator. Step 3: Tell them you want to activate a new phone on your existing line and give them the phone model. (They will then look up the phone and (hopefully) tell you, yes, you can activate it without a data plan!) NOTE: Be sure to ask for a “Data Block” on your line. This prevents you from accidentally using the cellular network for data (and racking up huge data charges). They should be able to do this without changing your current plan. NOTE 2: The data block is a must to prevent data charges (which is the point of this article) but as a side effect, picture and video messages will also be blocked. Only standard text messages will be let through. (I believe Verizon stores any picture/video messages sent to you on the website for later viewing.) Step 4: Follow the rest of the operators instructions for activating a new/different phone. Step 5: Assuming you completed all of the above steps, you should be all finished! Leave a comment below! — Thanks to Vince for the writeup on his experience with Verizon customer service. If they tell you no, call back again and speak with another CS Rep. “Works as of December 1st, 2011. Call Verizon 800 number 1. Bring your own phone. Devices on a shared data-only plan. WASHINGTON (June 10, 2013) — As Knowledge Online moves to next-generation enterprise services, Army retirees and family members will access DOD online self-service sites through the more secure Department of Defense Self-Service Logon, called “DS Logon.” The DS Logon system allows DOD and Department of Veterans Affairs, or VA, members and affiliates to access DOD and VA applications such as eBenefits, Online, Beneficiary Web Enrollment, MilConnect, Transferability of Education, Health Net Federal Services, Humana Military, MyTricare.com, and TRICARE-overseas.com, to name a few. The DS Login system will be the primary method for all DOD and VA web authentication in the not-too-distant future. The Army’s goal is to maximize DS Logon enrollments and to institutionalize the process that enables registration by November. DS Logon will replace logon via Army Knowledge Online. Using a single username and password, DS Logon provides a high level of authentication that goes beyond that of a simple username and password. The system allows government agencies to provide real-time, personalized information to users. Those eligible for a DS Logon account include: service members (active-duty, Guard/Reserve, retirees); veterans; spouses (including surviving spouses); and eligible family members 18 and over. Users must be enrolled in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System, known as DEERS, to obtain a DS Logon account. There are two types of accounts: basic and premium. A premium account allows users to access websites that contain their personal information. A basic account can be obtained online without verification of identity, but it does not provide access to personal information in VA or DOD systems. The main advantage of a basic account is that it enables users to upgrade more quickly to a premium account when they go in person to a VA Regional Office or a TRICARE Service Center. To obtain a DS Logon account, users may visit the “DS Logon – My Access Center” online at On the site, users may set up a basic account, or upgrade to a premium account. The quickest and most convenient method of obtaining a premium account is to complete the “remote proofing process” on the site. That process involves using a secure ID that users may already have, such as a social security number, and answering three basic, personal questions. CAC holders may upgrade their accounts immediately using their CAC. Individuals who do not have a CAC and who cannot complete the remote proofing process for some reason may request an activation code from the Defense Manpower Data Center if they have a myPay account established at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service. Users who cannot complete any of these processes can obtain a DS Logon premium account by visiting a VA Regional Office or a TRICARE Service Center. Locations can be found on the “DS Logon – My Access Center” website. Many Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification System, or RAPIDS, offices, military ID card offices, can also provide DS Logon accounts. Overview To participate in the VA Mobile Health Family Caregiver Pilot, Veterans and Caregivers must have an eBenefits premium account (DS Logon). EBenefits is a secure Web site used by Servicemembers, Veterans, and their families that allows access to many Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Department of Defense (DoD) online benefits and resources. Getting an eBenefits premium account (DS Logon) allows you to access your personal information held by VA and DoD and ensures the privacy and security of Veteran and Caregiver participants’ information. Who needs an account for the VA Mobile Health Family Caregiver pilot? Both Veterans and Caregivers will need an eBenefits premium account (DS Logon). What do I need to obtain an eBenefits premium account (DS Logon)? • Both the Veteran and the Caregiver must be enrolled in Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) to obtain an eBenefits premium account (DS Logon). Enrollment in DEERS is automatic for all Servicemembers and Veterans (but not necessarily Caregivers) who have served since 1982. Those who served prior to 1982 are being added from VA/DoD records. If you are not enrolled in DEERS the eBenefits system will notify you during the registration process. • Both the Veteran and the Caregiver must register for an eBenefts Basic Registration (Level 1) from the secure eBenefits Web site. • Both the Veteran and the Caregiver must upgrade to an eBenefits premium account (DS Logon) byperforming “Remote Proofing” – which verifies your identity. What do I need to do? For a Veteran and Caregiver to obtain an eBenefits premium account (DS Logon) several steps are needed depending on the level of access the Veteran and Caregiver have previously obtained. You can try to login by selecting “Login” from the eBenefits website.. If you have forgotten your login information you can click “Forgotten Username/Password”. You can also call the DMDC Support Center at 1-800-477-8227 (select option 2, and then select option 2 again) to receive account assistance. I am a Veteran or a Family Caregiver. It is designed to allow Volume License customers to automate the activation process in a way that is transparent to end users. Volume Activation applies only to systems that are covered under a Volume Licensing program and is used strictly as a tool for activation. It is not tied to license invoicing or billing. Volume Activation provides different models for completing volume activations. • Key Management Service (KMS) – KMS allows organizations to activate systems within their own network. • Multiple Activation Key (MAK) – MAK activates systems on a one-time basis, using Microsoft's hosted activation services. • Starting with Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, and Office 2013 • Active Directory-based Activation • During Active Directory-based Activation, any Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, and Office 2013 computers connected to the domain will activate automatically and transparently during computer setup. These clients stay activated as long as they remain members of the domain and maintain periodic contact with a domain controller. Important: As part of your installation, it is important to plan and manage deployment of any product using Volume Activation. Read more about. The Key Management Service (KMS) is an activation service that allows organizations to activate systems within their own network, eliminating the need for individual computers to connect to Microsoft for product activation. It does not require a dedicated system and can be easily co-hosted on a system that provides other services. KMS requires a minimum number of either physical or virtual computers in a network environment. These minimums, called activation thresholds, are set so that they are easily met by Enterprise customers. • Activation Thresholds for Windows – Your organization must have at least five (5) computers to activate servers running Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, or Windows Server 2012 and at least twenty-five (25) computers to activate client systems running Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8. • Activation Thresholds for Office – Your organization must have at least five (5) computers running Office 2013, Project 2013, Visio 2013, Office 2010, Project 2010, or Visio 2010 to activate installed Office products using KMS. For more information about Volume Activation of Office products, see the and. For more information about activation thresholds, see the. A Multiple Activation Key (MAK) requires computers to connect one time to a Microsoft activation server. Once computers are activated, no further communication with Microsoft is required. There are two activation methods for MAK: • MAK Independent Activation: Each computer individually connects to Microsoft via the web or telephone to complete activation. • MAK Proxy Activation: This method uses the. One centralized activation request is made on behalf of multiple computers with one connection to Microsoft online or by telephone. Note: VAMT enables IT professionals to automate and centrally manage the volume activation process using a MAK. Each MAK has a predetermined number of allowed activations, based on your Volume Licensing agreement. To increase your MAK activation limit, please contact your. Read more details about. No, you do not need a dedicated server; a KMS host is a lightweight service, and you can co-host an Office and Windows KMS host. However, only Windows Server 2003, Windows 7 volume editions, and Windows Server 2008 R2 are supported as Office KMS hosts. The KMS and MAK activation processes for Office 2013 are basically the same as they were for Office 2010, except that the Office 2013 KMS host is not supported on Windows Server 2003. The Office 2013 KMS host is supported on Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7 VL edition, Windows 8 VL edition, and Windows Server 2012. KMS is preferred (although either KMS or MAK may be used) because each time a computer is activated using a MAK, one activation is decremented. This applies to both physical and virtual computers. Note: • Windows Vista SP2, Windows Server 2008 SP2, and the release of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2: Virtual computers count toward the activation threshold for KMS. To increase your MAK activation limit, please contact your. Microsoft looked at several factors to determine the number of activations to associate with each MAK, including licenses purchased, the customer purchase pricing level, and the Volume Licensing program. For Open License customers, we look at the number of licenses they have and usually give them more MAK activations than what may be needed to ensure that activations are available for scenarios such as reactivations and virtual machine licensing rights. For example, if a customer purchases between 1–25 licenses, they may get 50 activations on their MAK. For Select, Enterprise Agreement, Campus Agreement, School Agreement, and SPLA we look at the pricing levels (A, B, C, D) and give a specific amount of activations per level, based on the general number of licenses purchased per level. We also take into account the fact that KMS is the preferred activation method. Reimaging rights are granted to all Microsoft Volume Licensing customers. Under these rights, customers may reimage original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or full packaged product (FPP) licensed copies using media provided under their Volume Licensing agreement as long as copies made from the Volume Licensing media are identical to the originally licensed product. As a Volume Licensing customer, the Volume License Keys you need can be found on the Product Key page. You can also request your key(s) through the. Note that if you are an Open License customer, you must purchase at least one unit of the product that you want to reimage to obtain access to the product media and receive a key. I did the steps and no lucky I'm using a TP-Link TL-WN881ND wifi card and a USB Bluetooth 4.0 dongle (I don't remember the brand, but it works great!) I can't pair my iPhone 6 (shows that is incompatible) to my hack and also i cant transfer files by AirDrop. The unusual thing is, my Bluetooth works good to pair my other things as my Motorola XT1097 that I could transfer files from my hack, and i also have a PS4 Joystick, that pairs and works great as well. NOTE: The Bluetooth USB dongle works plug and play on El Capitan, i had not to install any kext. Yes i just downgraded to 1.0.2 and installed bbupdater, ICE03.14.08_G.eep, ICE03.14.08_G.fls, ieraser, and secpack. Install app is there. I did a mistake and hit the install SSH. After that it returned without WiFi. Can i somehow restore it to 1.0.2 once again? ** UPDATE I got into the filesystem with iBrickr and when i navigate to /USR/BIN/ i only find simulatecrash. I wonder if anyone can send me their files from the /usr/bin directory for 1.0.2. I just want to connect to the phone and remake the baseband procedure!! I just found that baseband is 03.14.08_G with *#3001#12345#* Last edited by subs; 2007-11-15 at 07:06 PM. Subs, I am having the same problem. I have used multiple guides of the procedures involving bbupdater, ierase, virginator, norz, bbreloader - i have so far had no luck restoring wifi nor fixing the bad IMEI (00499). No one knows what to do - they can't figure out why it doesn't work. They assure me if I do as the procedures that my phone will be fixed - but I haven't had any luck yet and its been 5 solid days of doing nothing but trying to fix it. I even bought IPFS with the hope that it would somehow do something the others have not - but I haven't even been able to load it seeing as it requires 1.1.1 activated and jailbroken (which, due to the fact that I don't have wifi) is impossible. I am miserable. I hope someone has the knowledge to figure out what exactly the problem is and how to fix it. I've still got the same problem as obzrv. Bad IMEI, no wifi, no BT. Started with v1.1.1. Had it activated/unlocked fine for a while, but after installing some 3rd party app I got the incorrect SIM message and have not been able to recover. I've downgraded to v1.0.2 & 03.14.08_G, 'virginized'.follow all the guides I can find. But nothing restores the IMEI/wifi/bt. I've even tried 'upgrading' to v1.1.2 to see if that would restore the IMEI, but no such luck. So now I'm back to v1.0.2 & 03.14.08_G. Does anyone have any advice? Can anyone even suggest what else might be wrong? What have we corrupted that is not being fixed by the 'virginizing' process? I believe there are many, many people in this same situation. You'll be prompted with a warning or two. Click OK, ensure your USB WiFi device is connected, then reboot your computer. Under normal circumstances, the WiFi of your Macintosh/Hackintosh is activated a few seconds after you reach the desktop. With this utility, it must be manually activated though. Remember this when. Software solutions that involve manipulating Microsoft Word documents can be categorized into scenarios that describe, in general terms, how the solution interacts with the document. A document generation scenario involves programmatically generating documents. A data extraction scenario involves programmatically extracting specific content from a document. Content controls are a feature of Word 2007 and Word 2010. A content control is a bounded and potentially labeled region in a document that serves as a container for specific types of content. Individual content controls can contain content such as pictures, dates, lists, or paragraphs of formatted text. Using the same technique previously described in the blog post:. Content controls are used in that example to locate the parts of the document in which to insert the individual documents. This technical article describes how to use tagged content controls as a technique in either of these scenarios. One advantage of using this technique as opposed to using the XML Mapping feature is that once the content control is located by tag, you can retrieve the WordprocessingML markup contained within the content control or push a variety of Word content into the control. Consider the example of a scenario that requires extracting content from within a Rich Text content control that includes rich text and multiple paragraphs. Using XML Mapping, you can only transfer data between a single XML node in the document data store and a content control in the document, and rich text and multiple paragraphs are not permitted. So in this case, the appropriate alternative is to use tagged content controls. A content control has several properties including the tag property. The tag property allows you to uniquely identify, or tag, the control in order to locate it within the document. The tag value is normally hidden from the end user, but is always available to code, making it ideal to use for software solutions. Tagged content controls can be effectively used as part of a document generation scenario. In this scenario, tagged content controls specify areas where data is pushed into the document that is generated by the solution. Note You may have to enable the display of the Developer tab if it is not already displayed. To show the Developer tab on the ribbon, click File, click Options, click Customize Ribbon, and then select Developer under Customize the Ribbon. Click OK to apply the changes. • Right-click the Rich Text Content Control and then select Properties. • In the Title text box, type a title for the content control (for example, Policy Number). The title is always visible to the end user and is useful for indicating the information that should go inside the content control. • In the Tag text box, type a unique name (for example, idPolicyNumber). The tag is only visible to the user if the document is in Design Mode. Otherwise, it is not displayed. How to show or hide all hidden text quickly in Word? Show/hide hidden text in Word Option. Step1: If you are using Word 2010 / 2013: Click Filetab > click Options. Microsoft Word has a feature whereby you can hide text so that it does not visibly appear in the document. If you don't want to delete text completely, hid. Note Word does not enforce unique naming. If a specific scenario requires different content controls in a document to have unique tag values, the document creator must ensure that tags are unique. • Click OK to set the Title and Tag properties. The content control displays the Title and Tag text. • On the Developer tab, click Design Mode to toggle off Design Mode and then click the content control that you created. The Title text appears and the Tag text no longer appears. When the tag property of the content control is set with a unique identifier, you can locate it programmatically using the tag value. Sub GetCCByTag() Dim cc As ContentControl Dim docCCs As ContentControls ' Get the collection of all content controls with this tag. Set docCCs = ActiveDocument.SelectContentControlsByTag('idPolicyNumber') ' If any content controls are found iterate through them and give the type. If docCCs.Count 0 Then For Each cc In docCCs MsgBox cc.PlaceholderText Next Else MsgBox 'No content controls found with that tag value.' End If End Sub The Word object model also provides the property, which is a collection of all the content controls in the document. You can iterate through this collection and locate a specific content control using its tag property, as demonstrated in the following example. Sub GetCCByTag() Dim cc As ContentControl Dim docCCs As ContentControls Dim ccTag As String ' Iterate through all the content controls in the document ' and select those having the specified tag value. If ActiveDocument.ContentControls.Count 0 Then For Each cc In ActiveDocument.ContentControls If cc.Tag = 'idPolicyNumber' Then MsgBox cc.PlaceholderText Else MsgBox 'No content control found using that tag value.' End If Next End If End Sub Using the Open XML SDK and LINQ to Locate a Content Control by Tag. 123456 You can use the classes provided in the Microsoft.NET Framework to work with XML in general. However, the Open XML SDK 2.0 API is designed to work directly against the Open XML Formats. You can use the Open XML SDK 2.0 API to locate elements in the document that have a specified tag attribute value. Using the Open XML SDK and LINQ. The Open XML SDK 2.0 API provides strongly typed classes that represent elements in the Open XML Formats schemas. In the Open XML SDK 2.0, the WordprocessingML element is represented by more than one class. The Open XML SDK 2.0 API class that you use depends on the position of the content control within the document and the kind of content it contains. For example, consider the Word document shown earlier in this article. The Word document could be used as a form where the form contains a content control that holds a policy number. The content control has a tag value of idPolicyNumber. The underlying XML in the document shows that the content control is inside a paragraph. 123456 Because the content control is inside a paragraph ( ), you use the SdtRun class from the Open XML SDK 2.0 API. The SdtRun class represents content controls that are around inline-level structures, such as runs ( ), in a paragraph. The Open XML SDK 2.0 API SdtContentRun class represents an element inside an element that contains inline-level content. Within the element, run elements indicate runs of text. In this example, there is only a single run with one text element. You can use the Open XML SDK 2.0 API classes to work directly against the XML of the Word document to locate a specific content control by its tag and then traverse elements within the markup for the content control. The following code sample shows how to do this using the Word document in the previous example. Your device is compatible, but we are unable to find the correct SIM card. My mother passed away June 27, 2017, barely a year after losing my father and I am the sole child and beneficiary. I went to Suntrust (where she held an account) to see what I needed to do; my probate lawyer simply had asked for bank balances but gave me no guidance on what should happen with the accounts. Unbeknownst to me, they were supposed to freeze the account (at the very least) during probate. They did not and all the feedback I was given at the bank was, 'Come back with you have a letter of administration.' I did, even though the closest branch to me is over 4 hours away, and the branch manager comes in stating I needed to immediately open an estate account, funnel what was left in Mom's checking into it, and if I didn't do this correctly that I could go to jail. He scared me to death; I was already out of my mind with grief and highly influenced by his scare tactics to coerce me to open an account. He also muttered the Muslim woman banker that had been helping me previously was a 'terrorist'. Unprofessional doesn't cover it. I called my probate lawyer once I had settled down, realizing how inappropriate that whole interaction had been and they called him; he was offering me 'legal advice' inappropriately and using scare tactics to open new accounts. Now, I am stuck with an estate account with a bank I cannot easily physically visit easily. I recently mailed a 7200.00 check to be deposited to pay estate bills from the account to track for tax purposes. I can't pay bills safely because I can't check the balance online or via mobile (different rules for estate accounts, I was told) and after answering a security question wrong on the phone, they won't even speak to me anymore (I answered with the last 4 digits of my social and not my mother's.) I assumed that was the set they were looking for since I am the personal rep of the account. So, I have no idea if this check has cleared or if I have access to the funds yet. I will be flying to Atlanta in 2 weeks and will take that opportunity of being on the mainland (I live on an island) to physically visit a Suntrust branch, close the account, and sever all ties with them. This is easily one of the WORST banking experiences of my entire life and they are clearly a predatory bank. The behavior of the local branch (with the exception of one lovely banker who needs to find a better place to work) and corporate on the phone is deplorable. I wouldn't say that Suntrust is exactly greasy, but they are overly 'protective' of people's accounts. Seems like someone in the fraud department had nothing better to do a few weeks ago. They locked me out of my online account access for no reason at all except for 'frequent banking from different devices,' which I've done all along because of the spotty Wi-Fi where I live. They put me through something very upsetting, and I just didn't appreciate the whole experience. I ended up closing my accounts because I was so distraught that day. They then sent me a card a few days later letting me know that I could basically change my mind about closing the accounts, so I did. I called them back and asked them to reopen one of the accounts, and they told me that it 'wasn't able to be reopened.' Now mind you, this was only about seven days after I closed it, if that, and they had already humiliated me and verified my identity before I closed it. I could not make it into a branch because my vehicle was literally disassembled, and the nearest branch was 15 miles away. I just wanted them to reopen the account so that I could send money to it electronically and continue to use it to pay bills. May 09, 2008 How do i activate my bank card from Suntrust Bank? I didn't want a new account. I just wanted the same account that I had. I felt that someone over there could have flipped the switch and reactivated my account, especially since its closure was THEIR fault for treating me like I had done something wrong. You know, I know that some places do things to try to protect their customers, but to me, this was just a case of ridiculousness. I still didn't get my $2 check either. I got one of the 'account closure' cards, but not the check. My address hasn't changed in two years. To whom did they send the check? I'll give it a few more days, but I think it should have been here by now. When I finally do put my car back together, I won't be going to Suntrust for a 'new' bank account, but I might just take my passport and driver's license up to the Bluffton branch (again) just to show them that what they did was wrong. This was really poor customer service. REALLY poor handling of a customer. Except this time, I called them only 2 quarterly statement period and assumed they got their acts straight. Worst of all, they don't even own up to their mistakes and acted like they were doing me a favor by returning my daughter's money when in fact they robbed my 9 year old. Jay, from the Grayson Georgia branch had the nerve to tell me that he has the money in cash and therefore I should either pick it up on Friday since he closes at 6 or Saturday since he will be there till 12. He gave me 2 days to go there and pick up the money. As if I'm sitting at home doing basically nothing. I'm very disappointed in this bank. I should have read the reviews before putting my children through this mess!!! A look-alike website sold me theater tickets that were supposed to be at Will Call at the venue and were not. Other people there in line with me were similarly scammed by the same vendor. I called that vendor and was told the tickets were mailed to my home. They never showed up there. I described the situation in detail to Suntrust's fraud department and sent copies of the receipt as well as copies of the genuine tickets that I had to purchase at the venue. Suntrust ignored what I sent and requested the same information again. Calling Suntrust was pointless. After 30 minutes on hold, the woman I reached kept reading their letter to me even though she admitted she had the information they were requesting there already in her records. Totally disgusted. Will present to my branch manager tomorrow and close my accounts there. Had a car loan with Suntrust. Made every payment for 6yrs. When the last payment was due, I waited on the payoff amount. In the meantime I made another regular payment. Suntrust said payment was late since it wasn't payoff amount in total which they had never told me the amount. I immediately paid the remainder balance but Suntrust Reported me to the credit bureau and hit my credit with 100 point drop. I made six year worth of payment and they would not show any leniency on a final payment even though it was their screw up. This credit hit has cost me money across the board and is just a complete racket trying to deal with the credit agency to plead my case and trying to deal with Suntrust is a joke. It's a buzzard bank that no one should ever use. But this is not true. I called customer service, I physically went in and had online banking (which is not in real time) all 3 said I'm caught up. SunTrust doesn't pay the check out if your money but takes the amount to make it seems like they have so you have a false sense of security. When you finally catch on it's outta control. Overdraft is a 58 BILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY and they care about no one. I owe them and have gotten 5 letters of returned checks from different people. They took the money out of my account but never paid. This place is Satan. Shame on you SunTrust. Is anyone encountering variations in their checking balance vs. The bank's balance? Mine has been varying by a dollar or two until this month's statement which shows a noticeable difference in the bank's favor. I have gone through triple blind, line item verifying of checkbook balance vs. Bank daily balance online and find a nominal difference (. I had a problem with this bank while depositing a bank certified check which they insisted must be held one week before funds were available. I forced the manager to call the issuing bank directly in my presence and then explain why they were holding my money. Stammered a bit, I insisted, he called the bank. Within 2 minutes he finished his conversation and cleared my funds entirely. Washington Mutual attempted the same delay on a certified check when I sold my home. I threatened to contact the Dept. Of Savings & Thrifts in the state where they were chartered if all money wasn't transferred by the following morning. All money was in my new account by 9:00 the next morning, Washington Mutual failed within a week, my money would have gone with it. Opened a bank account with Suntrust and they've already caused me nothing but hell. First, they mail my card to the bank instead of my home. As I went to go pick up my debit card from the bank, they tell me they've thrown it out and called me since it was sitting there for two weeks. I never received ANY phone calls nor any emails. Next, I return an item online that I had purchased with my debit card, and they completely close my account saying its under investigation. Because of a $27.62 return!!! This bank is ridiculous, discourteous and extremely unprofessional. I opened up a new account completely online with transferring funds from my main bank of business and that process generally takes 3 takes with any bank. I opened up an account with Suntrust due to the ease of being able to open the account completely online with not wasting my work time going into the bank and signing paperwork. What I neglected read very carefully and completely was the 'fine print'. I mobile deposited my first payroll check from my second job the night I got my check. When initially signing up, their paperwork that you can clearly states says that checks can typically be posted up to one full business day. However, what they do not clearly state is that you must be an established account holder to have this happened. The check was under $500 and I deposited it in my account on November 21, and I found out the funds won't be available until November 30th. I can understand if it's a check that might be fake or a personal check from another individual, but a payroll check? This company doesn't offer direct deposit, or I would have had no problems withdrawing my money the next day. Keep in mind, if you must deposit a check into a newly set up account, please keep in mind that you won't be able to touch that money until 7 days later. I would have been better off getting it cashed at one bank or at Kroger or Walmart and depositing. May be out $3, but at least I would had my money immediately like I need it now rather than having to wait 7 days. Opened a checking and savings account online in September. Everything was going great, great service, easy deposits and never had an overdraft. I began receiving unemployment from Texas. My first payment was sent in the form of a treasury warrant because they had not verified my account before my first payment. I mobile deposited my the treasury warrant on 11/13/17 and was completely shut out of my account, debit card being declined on 11/14/17 with all funds frozen. Please note I had plenty of funds available even before this mobile deposit. I called the number and all I was being told was I violated rules and they were eliminating ties with me. Next morning I went into a local branch because I still was unsure what happened. The woman at the branch made a call and really told me they had a hold on my account until the mobile deposit cleared then they would review and start the closing process but could not tell me when I would have my money or why my account was frozen. I never keep cash so I had no money and was told I could not touch the funds in my account and would just have to wait. Please note I had holiday plans and Thanksgiving is days away but I can’t access my funds. I go into a different branch on 11/17 because I received a letter stating the bank had a tip that the State of Texas treasury warrant was counterfeit. The guy at this branch was very helpful but still couldn't get any info. The bank told me I needed to find out how they could verify the warrant and to let them know. I spent hours on the phone and found the exact number to call and verify the treasury warrant and gave it to the bank. An hour later the bank called and said they need something in writing stating it was a treasury warrant from Texas so they could keep it on file. I guess the actually treasury warrant I brought in (the one mobile deposited) was not proof enough for them. At the end of the day nothing had been taken care of even after 6 people from the State of Texas spoke with the various people from the bank. Here we are 11/21/17 and I call the exact verification number I gave the bank to call to verify the warrant. It was a simple call to verify and I spoke with a very friendly woman who knew the fiasco I had been through last week. Funny thing is I found out the treasury warrant was paid and funds transferred to Suntrust Bank on 11/14/17 the same day they froze my account. This was the biggest crock of bull I have ever had to deal with. They froze my account and now closed my account leaving me waiting for a check from them right for NO REASON at all. The treasury warrant they claimed was counterfeit was paid before they even started any of this. They have definitely made things very difficult for me just before Thanksgiving and because of their mistake, I’ve been punished and will be spending the holidays alone because I can’t travel home. Also since they locked me out of my account, I’m not exactly sure how much money I had in my checking account so I’m not sure they will send me everything that is owed to me. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS BANK, THEY ARE AS CROOKED AS THEY COME! SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF TROUBLE AND STAY AWAY! I just checked my account and seen I had $100 of overdraft charges on my account. I added and readded and the amount of money I had in my account was enough to cover my charges. My account jumped from having a positive amount to negative with 3 overdraft fees which I should never have been charged. The amounts totally don't add up and doesn't even make any sense at all. Thank God I was able to take photo shots with my 2nd phone to have my proof. Praying they will correct this error. I also sent order out at bank for checks 2 months ago twice and still have not received them. The only overdraft I should have is for a $40 ATM withdrawal. I should have had $4.55 in my account leaving me in negative $35.45. SunTrust Bank is the worst bank and has illegal and unethical practices. Several different times I have been charged overdraft fees when money is available in my account. After admitting fault, they reversed the charges however the most recent time SunTrust refused to give me the overdraft money back when it clearly showed funds available. I am actually trying to find an attorney that specializes in consumer fraud that is willing to go against this unscrupulous company in arbitration. Their practices are ridiculous! I have kept a savings and a checking account with Suntrust for almost 4 years. About a month ago, I applied for a small personal loan and was denied. So I applied with a couple different banks and was approved both times. My credit score is over 700 and I have no bankruptcies on my record. Not sure why I'm being denied. Also, Suntrust's business hours in my town aren't convenient. Open from 9 to 4 Mon - Thurs and 9 to 6 on Fri. Closed Sat and Sun. How do they expect working people to do their banking during those times? I have been banking with Suntrust for 10 years and for the first few years I was content with service. Over the past 6-7 years there have been many issues that have come up that require several phone calls, speaking with several people to resolve. Most recently I deposited a 6k check in my bank, a check from a public state college. For some reason they placed the check on hold for 8 days, and after speaking with 5 different outsourced bank representatives NO ONE can give me a straight answer as to why the check is on hold and won't clear. This check was not written out of some personal checking account by Joe Blow up the street, as this was a check from a University, a state institution. I called the institution that issued the check and they were showing that check has no issues and should have been cleared next day. Due to this 'hold' my account is now -300, as I have autodraft bills that were processed. The bank shows that I have a current balance of 6596, but an available balance of -300. And there are over 100 dollars in overdraft charges. I have never dealt with this before in my life, not having access to your money for over 8 days, after being a Suntrust customer for 10 years is unacceptable! Their outsourcing of calls is a nightmare, and you either can't understand who you are talking to or they act like they have no idea what you are talking about. For example, I have spent 3-4 hours on the phone with five different overseas representatives and had several different stories to find out what was preventing my payment from processing when money was in the account. I have already changed banks and couldn't be happier. Opened a small business account in person in January 2017, and at no time did the banker disclose to me that this type account came with Overdraft fees disguised as $38/incident NSF charges. It was my understanding that that type practice was ended in 2010 when 5/3 bank was slapped with a class-action lawsuit regarding their misuse of that criminal-type system by rearranging debits and credits forcing an account into overdraft. I am now being told that you are only required to opt-in on their consumer accounts. To add insult to injury, some of their ATM and purchase debits are held for as long as two days leaving one to believe that they have a higher balance than their system reports which of course leads to Overdraft fees. Needless to say that I have terminated my relationship with them and I look forward to the day when I receive a class-action invite for this institution. In August I went to the branch to change my variable rate home equity loan to a fixed rate. I was told that I had to go through the process to apply for a completely new line of credit. At that time I told them I owned a B&B. For the next two months I dealt with the loan center losing paperwork over and over again, with the branch resending it multiple times. I called 15 times to check on the progress and got conflicting information each time. The loan officer would not return my calls. They finally said they had reviewed my income and ordered an appraisal. After I called to check on the progress again, I was told that they couldn't give me the loan because I owned a B&B, which they knew from day one! The people at the branch knew nothing of this rule. Finally I spoke to the only knowledgeable person at Suntrust, Sherry, who told me that all I had to do to get a fixed rate was talk to Josh who would do it over the phone for me, which took less than 5 minutes! That is all I wanted to do from the beginning and instead the unknowledgeable, untrained employees of Suntrust wasted my time and money for two months! This was the most frustrating experience ever and once this loan is paid off, I will never deal with Suntrust again. I transferred $7500 from my Bank of America account to my another bank account on November 2nd 2017. The money was withdrawn from by BofA account the same day. However I was not allowed access to the money and was told it was not available to me for one week. The money is there and they not allowing me to use it. The gentleman Mr.R. ** who spoke vaguely mentioned the fact that the 'large amount' deposited might not been legal and so the bank was holding on to it. They had not evidence as to the veracity of the claim. The branch managers are pushy and persistent on trying to have me open a credit card and when I decline they had called my number and left over at least 12 voicemails, HARASSMENT! I will no longer bank with Suntrust, this bank has pushed me to the edge and has caused unnecessary stress into my life and I have also wasted time on the phone trying to get my money back that never showed up in my account yet the teller gave me a receipt for my deposit, so what does that mean? Is there a glitch in the system? Is my money being stolen? I CANNOT TELL, but what I can say is I don't trust this bank at all and will never do business with them again. When we first got a credit card through Suntrust, we set up online banking to be able to pay our bill online, but we never set up automatic payments. Three times they took funds to pay the credit balance from our account, three times we checked online to make sure we had not set up automatic payments and called customer service, asking them to correct the error. After a while, we paid a significant expense on the card, and again they withdrew the funds from our checking account without authorization--over $5000--which demolished our checking account. We called customer service to reverse the charges, and they refused to admit to any error on their part, saying that we needed to change our passwords for online banking since a hacker was logging in and paying our balance online. They also refused to reverse the charges electronically, choosing instead to mail a payment. It has not yet arrived, 25 days later at this point--this is all of the money we have. The repeated errors combined with this final, honestly, inhumane response, have caused us to resolve to cancel the card once we receive the repayment. Today I had an issue about a fee that was taking out of account that I already discussed with the billing company about how I don't have it in my account yet until payday. They said they wouldn't take it out until my payday. Well now I had a -$22.00 in my account. So I call Suntrust to see if I had to pay an over withdrawal fee and they said only if I pay 22.00 that day before 9 pm. Ok well I don't have 22.00 till payday. They said, 'Ok well the money for the bill will be taken out along with the overdraft fee.' I said, 'I cannot afford that cause I have to pay rent and if I don't have rent I am basically homeless.' The lady didn't care and said, 'Well I already explained to you about the overdraft fee.' I got upset crying and I told her I wanted to speak to a manager. The manager got on the line and I explained again what had happened. She said, 'Well I will call LA Fitness on a three way and you talk to them and see if they can stop credit on my account until the day I get paid.' So we called and the LA Fitness associate told me that the manager won't be in until 9 so we hung up. And the manager said, 'I don't know what to do from here. But you still have to pay the $22.00 dollars by 9 pm today to avoid the overdraft fee.' I got upset and told her that 'I Have been a faithful customer to the bank and y'all just don't care.' And I said, 'As soon as I get this paid (borrowing money from a friend) I am going to close my account.' I received a debt collector letter in the mail stating I owed Suntrust $1232.00. I saw this exact same letter 2 years ago, but threatened to bring legal Action if they didn't remove my name from the debt. 2 yrs later, I get another letter and it states they want to resolve it by offering for me to pay $600. This is a huge scam! I called Suntrust this evening and they would not disclose what the debt was for, but said they would have their fraud team look at it. I have since asked them to call my Attorney and I'm seriously considering suing them for fraud. I have been with Suntrust for 3 years. I have learned with them never to let your account run too low as they will rearrange the way the money comes out of the account to overdraft you. 29th I deposited my check 240. My online banking said current balance and available balance was $257 so I proceeded to use my debit card as funds were available. (But see they didn't know I print my online account twice a day). When I went to the gas station I used the card as debit for $11 and again at the parts store $45 debit, $40 out to dinner, $40 gas, $7, I can't remember the other two but say $20 and $50. So I spent $213 out of the 257 available but they overdrafted me for each and every one of those $216. Plus had taken two of the same payments out with the same confirmation number 328 twice. When I made a cash deposit on the same day of 306 at the ATM at 345 they tried to overdraft me again saying I didn't make my deposit until after 545. Little do they know I save my receipts also. When I called they would only reimburse me 2 of them the next day. So I called again and made then go over with me and told them I print my online banking twice a day and that money was available. Then they say I was right and say they will refund me my other four and since there was such a error all my overdrafts. So they put the other 4 back in, plus had to delete the item they tried to deduct 2x. This bank is awful. Then I get 8 more overdraft refunds $288 and I have a total of 315 in my account. I go withdraw $300 on Friday at 1:00 for vacation. Well this scumbag bank goes in my account after 4 on Friday and takes back 1 overdraft refund at a time and overdrafts me for each one they take back. They put it in my account in one lump sum but take it back individually to overdraft me 6 more times. Now they state I owe them $497. I had to cancel my vacation and get reimbursed to clear up my account that they are screwing me on since Sept. Well once I show them I have a lawyer my account is put back to the way it should be and I have the vacation money back and like magic I am in the positive. People if you are with Suntrust save your receipts and print your online banking. You need proof, this bank are a bunch of thieves. I opened an account Friday the 6th with a deposit from my debit card. Sent confirmation email, and then on Monday got the mobile app, it would not open kept saying, 'Sorry for inconvenience mobile site is down.' This went on until Thurs the 12th. Then when opening app it then stated my username and password did not exist. I called customer service to find out what was going on and was told Suntrust decided not to bank with me and would be mailing me back my deposit. Why I had no communication about this? Why my money would not be put back on my debit card since that was how I deposited it? Transferred to three people, all of which just read scripts. Ended up on the phone with a woman named Tequila who just kept repeating, 'It could take up to five business days ma’am.' So Suntrust held onto my money from the 6th until possibly the 17th, with no contact to me at all!!! I’ve never had such an experience with a bank!!! Suntrust bank failed to submit payments to my Suntrust Mortgage. I just received several checks that Suntrust Mortgage Escalation Resolution Team Nichole ** made up. I have never seen any checks. I was informed these checks were sent to Seterus somewhere in CA. Still fighting for the truth. I'd like to locate and retrieve all of the mishandled funds, along with the proper recordings to Bristol County Registry of Deeds. And recover my credit history. Where can I submit my proof of facts? Please help me out of this mess. I have been a SunTrust Bank customer for 8 years. 3 months ago my debit card was denied after I unloaded a grocery cart full of items at the checkout counter. Even though I had not only enough money to clear the transaction, but several more hundreds of dollars in my checking account. Still it was denied. Embarrassed, I excused myself from the checkout counter and proceeded to call SunTrust to identify the problem. After being put on hold several times, being disconnected several more times, I finally was connected to a young lady who spoke very broken English, possibly of Near Eastern accent. After explaining to her the problem, she finally released my funds and could not tell me why they were being held in the first place. However, she told me she would 'file a report.' The next day, I went directly to the local branch to speak with the Branch Manager. She was out, so they put me in touch with the Assistant Branch Manager. He went into the main accounting systems and could not identify the reason why my funds were frozen, after searching for over 45 minutes. He did say, 'I will file a report' as well. He guessed that it might have been denied access to my funds because there might have been some sort of 'identity theft' in the grocery store. But, he could not be sure and was equally as confused as I was. Three weeks later I receive a formal corporate letter from their headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia saying the typical, 'We are sorry you have had this experience, blah, blah, blah.' Still no explanation. I was tempted to close my account and find another bank, but decided I would give them one more chance. Today, 3 months later, I was in the same grocery store and tried to use my debit card. It was denied. I called SunTrust immediately, but this time another broken-English (I can barely understand) oriental customer service rep told me my debit card had been CANCELLED. Upset, I asked two questions, 'Why did you cancel my debit card and why didn't you notify me that you did?' She could not tell me (must be a strange disease going around at SunTrust as it appears no one can give any reasons behind any decisions they make). When asked why they did not let me know either by email, letter or phone, again she was clueless. Yet, now I have NO access to ANY of my funds in my checking account. So, I have groceries in bags sitting at the grocery store yet again. The Bottomline: SunTrust cannot be trusted, I repeat, SunTrust cannot be trusted with your money period. In my 40 years of banking, I have never seen such negligence and outright sloppy banking management as SunTrust. I will be closing my account next week and finding another bank. SunTrust has proven their incompetence twice over. I am not giving them another chance to embarrass me or deny me my funds when I have done nothing to deserve this. This is completely their fault. And, for whatever 'system glitch' they may have, the fact is, they don't seem to care very much for their clients. Do not waste your time opening an account with SunTrust. You will regret it I promise you. I did a mobile deposit on Friday. On Saturday only 200 came through. Not even half. Not enough to pay my bills and get my meds. I call 3 to 4 days. On Saturday they said the hold would come off on Monday. Monday comes and I was told on Tuesday. Later that evening they took all the money back out. May I remind you all I called and told these people I need to get my kidney meds, they act like they don't care. I am so swollen because I have to had my fluid pills. They don't care. They went from the check clearing on Monday to Tuesday. Till now the 29. Till the check is not going to clear. They trying to do whatever to cover their selves. They can see it. I was told the check amount and the company name on it. I told them I have no money, no food to feed my son and self. I have no gas in my car, and on top of it all the longer I keep the fluid on me the worse it gets. I will be close this account. Please guys go to another bank.
